Mark Jaspers surprised to say the least when ABC television contacted him to be a part of a new tv special It s about the theory of the six degrees of seperation So Jaspers went from Beulah North Dakota to Nashville in a search to connect himself to country star Martina McBride Nats singing Mark and so i thought it was a random once in a lifetime opportunity you gotta tkae advantage of it Reporter the first step of the competition was to connect himself to Martina which he did in just three steps faster than anyone else Mark just how it all pieced together was very providential I think Reporter Mark went through his friend Cheryl who had a friend who worked at a record company in Nashville who knew Karen Fairchild of the group Little Big Town who is currently touring with Martina but that was just the first step next he had to sing Nats singing Mark we preformed two songs each at the wildhorse saloon in Nashville and it was a five o clock in the afternoon show the audience there voted and three people went on and three people went home Reporter Mark didn t make it through to the next round Mark I don t get nervous typically but I also don t usually sing in front of pretty critical crowd in Nashville or TV cameras that I know are going to put this in front of tens of millions of people to watch on national televisions so Reporter Mark is disapointed with the outcome but the hardest part was not spilling the beans Mark oh they re excited actually I knew the results of a lot sooner than anyone else in town so a lot of times they tried to get it out of me Reporter Mark didn t know who Martina McBride was before the competition but he forget her name now Mark just the opportunity for me to share life with people um and get to know people it was something I wouldn t want to pass up I d do it all over again in a heart beat Reporter Mark made lots of connections through the show and his next stop American Idol tryouts in Omaha For KX News I m Tia Elzenga Mark says he s met a lot of people through the competition and he hopes it will lead to something down the line but for now he enjoys his job as a youth minister at Immanual Baptist Church in Beulah
